Head light Issues
Head light Issues
Following is about a Dodge 3500,
Cummings diesel, 1998:
Head Lights go off, always on the back roads of course, turn switch off and on they will come on but go off immediately. Installed new switch, repaired a wire and connecter that appears to have damage from excessive heat. Help I need lights as I pull some heavy equipment at different times and I know the DOT is waiting around the next curve. I am completely ignorant on electric(s) but where can i start?

Is the truck completely stock? Is there added lights tied into the headlights? The headlight switches are known to get hot so if there's no other lights or electrical devices causing more draw from the headlight circuit and melting the switch then you may be able to just add a secondary relay which will bear the burden of the amperage load for your switch. I know you said that you're not learned up on electronics so you may want to find someone you trust who does and see if they can help.
