Hazard flasher not working

Hazard flasher not working

I have an 02 2500 and I have no 4 way flashers, I have replaced the flasher with a new heavy duty but no difference. My truck has one flasher. I have checked the fuses under the hood and in the fuse panel. If I push the switch the flasher will make one click and stop. Any ideas?

Have you checked your trailer wiring harness at the hitch?

They can get moisture and dirt in them causing the wires to coorrode and touch each other causing problems.

I'd start there.

Then I would go to the steering column and check the flasher switch and the turn signal switch.

Well the turn signals seems to be fine but I guess I will have to take apart the flasher switch or maybe unplug and jump the wires to see if it flashes ok

If the turn signals are working then the flasher relay is working at that point. I would bet flasher switch is munged up and nees cleaning or replacement.

I should mention it was a farm truck before I got it so there was plenty of hay seed and cow #@%$ everywhere so there might be a cow patty in there somewhere.

That's funny!

I know the window switches can get gunked up from dirt and water etc and a good cleaning usually will restore them. If there is junk in that switch it could cause it to act up.

So the O2 units only use one flasher? Mine has 2 in the 97.

Yes, the 02 (or at least my 01.5) has 2. One flasher for the blinkers, one for the hazzards. Had me stuk for a while also. The 4 way flasher is the blue 'realy' looking square in the dash fuse box. ...Dealer only.
