fuel sender problems

started smelling fuel the other day, found return line @ top of sender spraying all over. Can anyone help with a part number or description of what I need? I am a little confused as to whether I need the whole unit or not. I also had problem with fuel guage before this, always had to rely on odometer..some times it works, other times it drops like a rock to empty then shoots back up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. <><

My guess would be the return line is toast at the connection. Though it could be the fitting itself. To be sure you will need to take off the line from the fitting and inspect both. Hpefully it is not the fitting broken. Not sure if you can replace just the fitting. The bad sender you can replace with a stock one or go aftermarket like I did. If you do a search under my username find a thread called "fuel sender install capacitance type install notes" you will see how I fixed my sender for good.

Thanx, I will do that search...the elbow going into the unit in the tank is rotted out,the line itself seems good.<><
