Re:front break pads did not last

If you wash the dust out once a week the pads will last a lot longer

Re:front break pads did not last

I got 75,000 stop and go miles out of the factory pads before 1 liner jumped off the truck and left me with metal to metal. I have not gotten more than 10,000 miles out of aftermarket pads.

Thats with an auto tranny and usually with 1 to 2 tons in the bed.

Re:front break pads did not last

I sold my 95 diesel dually last Oct. and got my 03. It had
80,000 miles on it of witch I pulled our 27' T.T FROM AZ
to OR. several times and where I live ilt is real hilly. The truck
is in the hands of a good friend now and its now over90,000
miles and it still has the same front and back brakes.
So it does depend on if you use them hard or easy. My wife
waits tell the last sec's to stop where I slow down alot sooner.
I loved my first truck and really love my 03.

I have 24,000 miles on the Glugger and brakes are about 1/2 pad compared to my 1500 that the pads were wore out at 18,000 miles I think Dodge has improved dramatically! 8)

My fronts lasted 33K until there was metal to metal-rears look unused-but i did the rear p-valve mod which seems to stop better! Maybe the fronts will last a little longer now.

At 80,000 mi., at least 50% of that was pulling a 19' TT, auto tranny - still have original front and rear. Here in the west there are many long, steep (7 mi, 8%) grades. Will put on new pads and shoes before July when I will be going about another 5,000 mi here in the west.

Spouse doesn't drive my CTD. I had the same problem on both my 95's. Probably your rears aren't working or just barely. Try pulling off the rear drums, you may need a puller. Take the slack adjusters off, lean and lube them, and adjust them up. THis should solve your problem.

Good luck.

Napa Lifetime warranty pads, I got a whole 36,000 miles out of them! Just replace them today. > And I have a exhaust brake that I use all the time!

Re:front break pads did not last

I replaced my pads last Friday at 60000 miles. They had a lot of miles still lef in them. I wanted to change to the Performance Friction pads from Auto Zone so I did all 4 wheels. Those pads made a big difference in my 95 1500. The new pads on my 2500 feel better but it is not as big a difference as it was on the 1500.
I am getting ready to pull my travel trailer through the mountains to Nashville TN, so I decided to put some better pads on befor the trip.

Bill
