Lightbulb Finding one......

Man.... I never thought for a minute that it would be next to impossible to find a used truck that met my requirements.

I spent saturday driving to just about every dealer and major car sales area in central and southern Maine and found not 1 2001 2500 quad cab 4wd long bed for sale.

I've been online and found some but nothing in Maine. I've read thru the most recent AutoHunter, nothing.

Anyone want to buy an Expedition?

Oh man... Been there. Yes, there are some. But it's going to be a long drive/hike/flight/ride either way.
And it mostly means I have to sell my Expedition on my own which, while I'm not averse to doing means it's my headache and I will not get any sort of break on the sales tax that I would with a trade-in.

truck trader worked for me also...

I, and another happy CTD owner, both went 1400 miles to pick up our respective CTD's a week apart... Mine was in Texas.

Nik

I know what you mean. I'm looking for a good clean 3500 up here in Ontario. There scarce as hens teeth.

What I do is go to the Dodge web site and bring up the dealer finder and then search their inventories.

It will bring up a map of your area and show you the dealers locations along with their websites (4 at a time). Then gradually search further away from where you live.

I got a squeeky clean 2500 for ya! Good luck

JKA,
thanks but you're only batting about .250 - short 2WD!

Good luck!

I work at a smaller dealer in the southwest and it's hard to find a nice CTD truck with low miles. It took me four years for that perfect truck to get traded in, and even then I had to change out the 4.10's for the 3.55's I wanted. We took in a nice 01 2500 4x4 last week and it was gone yesterday. Only had 40K on it and had been serviced religiously. Just saw an 01 3500 2wd with 70k come in too. I saw quite a few in the Phoenix area. Nice to buy down here as there is zero rust on most of them.

So the search goes on. I spoke to a dealer in VT who had exactly what I was looking for - 31k for $26k. But he's higher than I want to be.

would you be willing to travel to texas? There is surplus down here, but be careful and have one of our members that lives near the truck check it out for you.

I probably would. I think that Michigan is another place that has some potential and is a closer trip for me.

But it comes down to selling my Expedition first. I have to do that before I can consider getting anything else.

FOR ANYONE LOOKING!!!
2001 2500 quad 4WD CTD 8' bed. SLT (since they mostly all are). Auto preferred but manual is a possibility. In the 40 - 65k mile range. I'm not necessarily concerned with the specific options. Color unimportant (except to my wife). Looking to spend about $20k. I know I may be a little low but I think I can get into that ball park with a little patience.

31K miles for $26K is a decent deal. I bought basically the same truck in dually last year for $25k on ebay and had to bring it 2000 miles to it's new home.

TX is prolly the mecca for these..but I have found they sometimes have a different view of "clean" than most of the world does.

Shipping from there is about $2k.
