Error Codes

I had a Superlift Truespeed installed a week ago.
One of the wires came loose, resulting in no speedometer (and therefore, no cruise, trip computer, odometer, estimated fuel mileage, etc).

Just for fun I pulled the codes (on-off-on-off-on) and got a P0500 and P1693
No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal, which was expected.
The Check Engine light never came on though.

I took it back on Monday and they fixed the wire and everything has worked since then.

Just for fun today, I pulled the codes again to see if they cleared themselves and they hadn't.

Is this a code that should reset itself after 3 starts
or will I have to take it to Autozone and have them reset it?

thanx

Re:Error Codes

I always get those two codes. If you disconnect your batteries for a bit, this will clear them. I was doing it, but they always seem to come back ???
I finally quit worrying about them. Performance doesn't seem to suffer.

S.C

Re:Error Codes

I understand disconnecting the batteries for 20min or more will reset everything to default settings and clear fault codes.

Re:Error Codes

I checked for codes today and it appears that the 0500 and 1693 codes will reset themselves given time.
Just not sure how long it really took as I haven't checked in a couple months :

Re:Error Codes

Maybe I'll just check every now and then too see if they've cleared.

Does anyone know which speed sensor causes the P0500?
The one on the rear differential or the one at the tail end of the tranny?

phox
