Engine Access improvement

If only Dodge would have designed the hood for this functionality...

All Benz cars do that, it's great when your working under the hood.

To be far though, Dodge hoods lift pretty high. Better than the fords I've worked on.

the new fords don't need to open high, anything other than a quick look, and off comes the cab for ease of gettin to stuff.

They opened 90* through '67 (I have a '67 PW Dad bought new) and the 68-71 opened to 70*. Access is great. Personally, I always thought dodge missed the boat with the big rig look by not going to a one piece tilt front, just like the big rigs. That makes access REALLY good.

Wonder how long it will be before the goverment mandates a rear-hinged tilt hood for semi's due to some false safety concern, just to make a tech's life more difficult for any work to be done on them. It's already difficult enough with all the new emssions equipment!

Sad part is you aint kiddin, my old powerjoke started leaking around where the dipstick goes into the oil pan, ford dealer told me it was a o-ring on the back side (common problem I guess) and in order to replace it either the engine had to be pulled and the oil pan removed or the front axle had to dropped and the frame cross member rivets punched out and motor mount removed, so you could drop the oil pan. I cleaned it up, covered the area with good old JB WELD and sold the #@$*%!* thing Thats what I love about my 12v, things are simpler and easier to get to

All you have to do is open your hood a ways and then take your truck up to about 80 mph. It'll open that far then! (a few incidental problems may develop though)
