DSS - best source

I have some extra funds together to finally fix my sloppy steering. I am going to rebuild the steering gear and install a DSS.

I remember coming across two different units when I researched DSS. One was significantly cheaper than the other. ANyone know where I can find these products? What is the difference between the two?

Windecker Machine has it for $169, plus either $17 or $28 shipping.

Everywhere else I've seen, it has been $209.

www.pscmotorsports.com. That's the cheapest I've seen them and they work great. I really like mine.

Edit: Just checked their site. Looks like they jacked up the price...

I recently installed the DSS on my truck and had to put spacers between the bearing block and the DSS plate because the new nut was sticking out too far for the bearing block to sit against the DSS plate. Has anyone else had this problem? I had the steering box replaced 12k ago due to a lot of play in it and went back to him with this problem and a lot of play in the replaced box. He replaced the steering box (free of charge) and installed the DSS with the same results (needed 1/4" spacer). Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem but it was because my truck was parked at an angle on an incline, which caused the right side of the frame to be a little higher than the left. Did you try tightening it without the washers? You might notice that it would go on without hassle. If it doesn't tighten easily then you should use washers. PSC told me that on some trucks they've experienced what you're saying and it's because the frame bends a little due to the massive weight of the truck. It may or may not be the case in your situation. Washers are ok to use.
