Doors rusting on my 2001
doors
If you are over 100k you are out of luck. i know on 94-6 it was 7 years or 100k I had some replaced at 97k some years ago painted installed and new belt mld
N/C and they were not even showing rust on the outside yet. So i was happy they did'nt give me any BS about it. I think on the newer trucks they cut the time back to 5 years. It should tell you in the owners manual.

Thanks for the info.
I lucked out thanks to the door replacements. My originals were pretty rusted at the bottom, but my father managed to locate a body shop that did the door replacements for a local dealership near him. He picked up several that had been replaced with very little rust. He gave me a pair with only a little surface rust, so I sanded and painted them, and coated the rockers and lower doors with Herculiner. They should last quite a while.

Yeah the 315s are on. No pics yet. They are mounted on the factory wheels. They look the nuts....really changed the look of the truck, I like it.
I was down Scott's this past Saturday, had the tranny serviced and the spring changed in the FASS pump. Big difference with that..went from 15psi to 20 @ idle.
On the 01's it was 5/100 from the in service date. I brought mine to my local dealer in April last year and he told me that because they were not rusted thru, that DC would not warranty them. So I left it. i'll have it dealt with this spring. Sand, fill, paint.
Glad to hear that you like the tires, I just bought some new BFG ATs but i kept with the 285s because of the amount of driving that i do, Oh well i guess. Try to get a pic up of them on your truck, would like to see how they look. Yeah, my Fass runs at 20 to 21 psi at idel all the time.
Can't believe rusting issues already on a 5 or 6 year old truck unless it was neglected. I wash mine at least weekly(if not twice a week) to get rid of salt, from on the roads in winter(even wash it more in the summer). I also wax at least twice a year(spring and fall), and I have absolutely no sign of rust on door bottoms or anywhere else on truck.
I bought the truck new in May 2000, as the 1st of the 01 models. But if you bought it used and original owner didn't wash it very often, then damage was probably already done, and not much unfortunately you can do about it now except fix it, and keep it clean.

I'm like you torque, I wash mine whether it needs it or not, rain or shine at least once a week. The MDOT is about 2 miles from me so there is plenty of salt on the roads all the time. I see only a small amount of rust on the bare metal like the drive shaft. even my steel straight pipe is not rusting much.
Got any ideas about preventing the doors and elewhere from rusting from the inside out. I don't see anything but maybe just having a garden sprayer and washing the underside occasionally would help even more.
Sure would be nice to build a built-in underside washer...just push a button and ...splash it washes the bottom. haha

Doors Rusting
I have a 2001 and the warranty was 5 years from the in service date. My drivers side door was rusted on the inside bottom lip were the outer panel wraps around and is welded to the inner panel. The local dealer wouldn't do anything about it but I made an appointment with them to show it to the Dodge Area rep the next time they were around. They approved the replacement with a brand new Dodge door.
You just have to be pesistent about it I guess.

I'm good...still under the 5 year/100K rust through warranty. Dealership has ordered the doors and the appointment has been made.
Trouble is it's 6 weeks out...body shop is backed up with collision work.
