Door will not open.
Door will not open.
On my 1999 2500, recently the rear driver side door will not open. Handle seems to move through its full motion, but door does not unlatch. Not even sure where to have it repaired. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
This is from foggy memory, but if you unscrew the handle from the door, there should be a nut that would just need to be tightened up. Very easy, you should be able to tell as soon as you loosen the outside handle. Hopefully this helps.

i had this issue a short time ago. I had to remove the door panel and re attach the rods to the door handle. there are two rods, one for top and one for the bottom latch and they pop onto an actuator mechanism. if one pops off you get the symptoms you describe. you will need a tool for popping off christmas tree fasteners or you will break off the mounting ears on the door panel. you will also need new cristmas tree fasteners, i got mine at autozone
You don't need a special tool to pop the fasteners loose, I pulled mine off by hand had no problem with them breaking. A flat head screw driver helps too. Once you get the panel off, you can pull which ever rod is disengaged to get the door open, and then finish it off.
bottom latch was rusted
Take the panel off and try to unlatch the bottom and top latch with the rods/cables.
My bottom latch had rusted on my club door and nothing inside the door panel helped me. I took off the handle on the inside the edge of the door and pulled down the wire that unlatched the top and vise gripped it open. I then took a punch and drove it thru the plastic exterior of the bottom latch until the pivoting catch moved back as far as I could drive it. I then kicked the door a good one and it finally came open.
Pretty obvious that you need to know that the bottom latch is rusted and that it is not a broken cable or something.
You also need to have the new latch ready to put on when you are done. The latch is not cheap and you have to buy it from Chrysler.
When it is rusted, it is a b*tch to get open.
