diesel safe RTV

so when i dropped my tank to replace my fuel level sending unit, i broke the fuel return line. im going to be installing a sump kit as the new supply line, and i plan on using the original fuel supply line as my return.

i need a way to plug the old return line, its a plastic piece, and the hole is flush with it. i was planing on just filling that hole with black (oil safe) RTV.

does anyone know if this will hold, or do i need to find another solution?
