Custom Lowering Kit?

I have been looking through the 1st and 2nd Gen forums for like over the past week page by page, I'm on page 325 of 426 so far. I ran across someone with a 1st gen that lowered it down by flipping and moving the rear shackle mounts and heating the front coils to lower it down. I have been waiting to like lower my truck down some more and I already have longer shackles. Most lowering kit come with new front shackle mounts but they don't make them as far as I can find for a 8800 GVW truck. I also have read that a couple people have cut the front coils to lower the front end down. Basically I have thought of getting some coils off a 1998 dually and cutting them to see how they fit and also if the rear shackles are the same, modifying them so it would lower my truck down some more in the rear. Anyone have any advice or opinions about my ideas?

I did see a truck like mine on craigslist one day and he had lowering spindles and half ton coil springs. I can't seem to find lowering spindles for my year truck and I don't its that great of an idea to put half ton coil springs.

I'm going to try 1500 springs off a dodge 4x4 to lower my front end on my 4x4...So many different ideas....One person says to cut coils, the other says its a bad idea...Seems the same in installing 1500 coils...I'm going to start testing these ideas and see what is the best...For sure lowing spindles are the way to go.....If you could find them..

I know 1500 spring aren't the same off a 1998 for sure as my 2001 but I would say it would fit 4wd wise since they use 2500 and 3500 springs to raise theirs up.

Look on belltech web site I found allot of different options for dropping our trucks. Remember in the search you might have to use V10 it is the same and the 5.9 24V all part numbers are the same on like trucks. I had remembered as I was going to drop my 96 dually 3500 V10 but sold it instead.

I think I have been there before but I just checked and the kits say they fit 94-00, I don't see much difference.

I also have ran across that my truck is 8800 GVW so the leaf springs are wider then regular trucks so thats also a problem.

Cutting coil springs will increase the spring rate quite a bit.

Well I've had it leveled out and it looked good but I like it how it handles at stock, I've had a couple people think my truck was a half ton before. I just would like to lower a little more to reduce the gap in the wheel wells.
