Cruise Control issues

My '98 2500 cruise control works most of the time but occasionally after I set the speed it will gradually increase until I stop it. So far from what I can tell it wont stop, 94 mph was when I shut it off last time I used it. Any suggestions other than replacing the controls on the steering wheel??

Mine did that. Never corrected it but was told by dodge that it was learned behavior? Found that if I hit set cancel ,set cancel, about 10 times that it would finally hold at the set spot.

Could be a bad clockspring, but you usually lose your radio controls too...

clockspring huh? well that makes sense, i just recently bought this truck and nothing would come in on AM or FM on the factory radio, replaced it with a Pioneer after mkt and now it works so I may have to look into that. Thanks.

The factory radios do develop a problem turning on. Mine usually would not turn on when powered. On occasion it would turn itself on after being powered for a while. Turn on Turn off it was crazy. I finally installed a Sony. Happy again. I have read many threads regarding factory radio problems.

Here is some info on the cruise control that may help.

What I found was if the clockspring breaks or malfunctions in any way the air bag light should illuminate in the dash which is not my case. Has anybody tried replacing the cruise controls with any luck???
