clutchless shifting
IMO speedshifting is fine as long as it isn't taking much force to disengage and re engage the gears: this means you're getting the speeds right. If you're having to jam them in then you're not doing your trans. any good.
It is a bad idea all around no matter how you slice it. These are not dual counter shafts transmissions like a big truck has. The trannies in our trucks are syncronized and in the case of clutchless shifting, the syncros will be exposed to the entire load of matching input and output rpm in the tranny when shifting without the clutch and they are not designed to continuously operate that way - they are too small. Even if you think you are good at matching input and out speeds, you aren't good enough to stop accelerated syncro wear. You aren't driving a big truck, these are still automotive based trannies even though the engine is not.
As stated above, it is bad for your synchros. It is certainly possible to shift our trucks this way, but I would not recommend it. The way the pumps are setup on these trucks also makes it much more difficult than on the real trucks because the rpms fall so fast. If you are good at it, it is not the end of the world but you will wear out your tranny quickly.
