Changing seats in 98 3500

I have a 98 3500 quad cab. I want to put a set of mastercraft suspension seats in the front. Mounting the seats is not a problem. But Dodge in their infantile wisdom decided that they should put the seatbelt retractors in the seat backs. My question is there a year and model that had the seatbelt retractors mounted to the top of the cab or mounted to the floor with a guide on the cab. I would think that the upper latch mount for the back doors would be strong enough for the upper mount. Has anyone done this. Or know of a solution to this problem. Thanks for any help you can give

Only in the standard cabs is the belt located on the body as far as I know.

You may be able to pull the seat belt assembly from a standard cab truck, as SIXSLUG suggested, or another year, as in 96, even if you had an extended cab, the seat belts were in the door post.
You might want to pull the trim off back there first, to see sufficient mounting locations are there.

That means the seatbelt will be mounting behind the REAR seat. That doesn't seem like that good of an idea.

I had a similar question a while ago, like they told me, do NOT mess around with seatbelts...

Thanks for the suggestions. I have found out some things if it helps someone else. The seat belts from a same year Dakota pick up will work. The upper mount can be attached to the front bolt on the upper rear door latch. On a standard cab the exact same bolt is used for the upper seatbelt mount. So it should be strong enough. The retractor goes down on the lower outside belt mount. Now all I gotta do is get some Mastercraft seats ordered for it and install them. Thanks for the help Bill
