center/drag link
center/drag link
I have a 2001 ram 2500, I just had new tire put on it, was gonna have front end aligned, the guy told me that my idler arm and center link needed replacing, a friend of mine said he thinks that the center link doesn't wear out, but if it does, does anyone know where I can get one, napa can't and they referred me to dodge, dodge says it's a deleted item they don't make anymore, thanks, oh yea it's a 2wd

There are no joints on it, and it is indeed true, I can't find any aftermarket support or new Mopar parts......... So that tells me he took a quick look and missed that you likely need a new Pittman arm and Idler arm, both of which are available anywhere.
While you are there, make sure they really check out your tie rod ends, both inner and outer, they usually go before a Pittman arm.
you don't think where the pittman and idler arm mount to the center link could wear out, i don't know what kind of force is applied to the center link when everything is in working order, do you think all it is, is that the studs are wore out on the pittman/idler arm
The Idler and Pittman use tapered studs, so while it is possible they could have come loose and wore out the taper, it is so unlikely as to be almost impossible. The nut would have had to be installed without the cotter pin, backed off, and somehow not completely fallen off long enough to let the loose joint wear.
I would bet it is the Pittman arm joint loose.
