Cam Plates

I have a 96 2500 and have done all my home work to date. Would now like to gain some power but am torn between the #8 plate and the #10. Could some of you guys give me your honest opinion.

Thanks,

Yak

Well, first of all WELCOME to this great site. I see that you did take care of your KDP. That is a good thing. Mine has a # 8 plate (see sig) and it pulls good. I don't have any idea how it was before with the factory plate. I can pull my 26' fiver up a hill that is 6% for three miles at 60 mph and still not have to put my foot to the floor. I also don't have to worry about EGTs with the setup that I have. You could go to the links section and get phone numbers of diesel performance shops and discuss your ideas with them. There are also some guys here that are every bit as knowledgeable as anyone you will find anywhere. Maybe they will chime in too. Good luck and have fun.

If you are going to use the truck to do any towing the #10 is the smoothest plate for such a truck, along with the 3gsk , I see you are a full timer,if you have the time and the adventuring spirit take a trip up to Canada to Piers Diesel and enjoy thier expertise! I have the same setup and tow a fith wheel and I can only say that it woke my truck up as if it had been asleep all it's life, just be gentle on the tranny until it gives you some trouble then get it done and you can readjust the #10 for even more ump!! Welcome to the best dodge cummins site, Goodluck,,,Rick
