A/C compressor always clicking?

I had my system charged recently and the a/c works great, nice and cold. However, I've noticed that when I don't have the a/c selected, I can still hear the compressor clicking in/out. Is this normal? It seems to me that the compressor shouldn't be working if I don't have the a/c selected. Is there a switch somewhere that has failed? I just put a used compressor in 'cause the system leaked before and the mechanic said the compressor was leaking. (Plus a new dryer because I didn't use the a/c all winter. )

Maybe I need to clean the radiator fins? Just been reading other posts for ideas and I would like some suggestions please.

yes that is not normal, mine won't even click in and out now. if they changed the dryer start there, the switch on top might be bad and won't open.

The Face Only position is "vent" and the only position that doesn't cycle the AC compressor.

It's a good thing to have it cycle as it keeps the system seals from drying out.

This is correct only on '98 and newer trucks.
On the older trucks defrost is the only position that runs the A/C unless you are on the A/C side of the fan switch.

Both "problems" are easy to fix Disable Automatic AC
