a/c clutch removal steps??
The a/c part (not sure what its called) connected to the serpentine belt with battery cables hooked to it has locked up & I'm not gonna have the $ to put a new one on it for a while. I've already got the non-a/c belt on & the beast is running ok. I just need to know the steps involved to remove the bad part. Thanks in advance.
I took it to an a/c mechanic & he sucked all the r134 out. I've removed the old compressor & I'm looking for a cheap replacement. When I put the new compressor in, can I refill the r134 refrigerant myself? If so, how many cans does it take to refill the system?
The cheapest place I found for a compressor was on ebay. It was rebuilt but half the price of a new one. I put it on a year ago march and it works great. You can put the freon in but I would go back to who you had suck it out. One so he can put a vacuum on the system to get all the air and moisture out. And two because he has the freon out of your truck. why buy more when he has yours.
Before putting in new freon you need to have a vaccuum put on the system. This will remove a air and moisture from the system and if they use a micron guage you will know if you have any leaks. I would not put the old freon back in. The container that it was put in could be contaminated from someone elses freon.
