A/C Acting Strange!!
I just bought a 1998 Dodge 1/2ton 4x4 and on the ride home with the AC cranked up and blowing thru the dash vents it automatically switched to the defrost vent and continued for about 10 minutes and then came back to the dash vents, without ever touching the AC controls on the dash. I drove the truck this weekend and it did the same thing a couple of times on the 2 hour trip. Any Advice, maybe a actuator going bad, it only happens at high speeds in 5th gear.
Very Strange,
Thanks for the advice!!!

Check your vacuum system out, either the pump is on the way out or you have something allowing it to escape when you are in 5th ( engine torqued over, etc. )
Classic case of loss of vacuum is going to defrost, it is the default position.

Mine lost the vacuum seal when a hose got nicked in the shop. It would not change from the foot vents and also I had trouble shifting into 4 wheel drive. Apparently that is related to the vacuum system as well. Good luck.

Ill try to check the lines and hoses from what I can see under the dash, Is there any other ways of checking other than a visual inspection and a Chiltons manual?
