Burnout problem
Burnout problem
I did a burnout in front of my shop yesterday, and it stalled out. It acted like when you change the fuel filter, and it takes awhile to start.
Did I starve it for fuel somehow?

I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago, during a burnout I had to get out of the throttle suddenly to avoid hitting a car that turned in front of me. Truck stalled out, right in the middle of an intersection after a good smoky burnout. Jumping off the HRVP44 can cause it to stumble, and possibly stall. Only happend the one time.
ive had this happen alot when going WOT and had lots of fuel flowing thru the VP44 and it gets hot...well when you let off the throttle/stop the pump abruptly it can cause the fuel that is trapped within the heayed up VP44 at that point to quickly vaporize and vaporlock the injector lines.
ive done this many times, down to a science now of jumping out, cracking 3 injector lines, turn it over a few times, then tighten the lines up and start the truck. the first couple of times i thought it was the truck running out of fuel, so i kept a an extra gallon in the toolbox. then i realized what was going on and now i jsut keep my wrench handy

Mine would do that too back before I put my FASS on. I would race somebody and I would let off abruptly and it would die. I would then have to coast it off the road. It wouldn't fire back up immediately, but after a few lift pump cycles it would hit and miss and finally smooth out and run fine. I ain't had that problem anymore since I installed the FASS 150.

No you dont.....there is not one VP-44 on the planet that can run away from the 95 GPH. That is not your issue....BUT might check your Fuel Pressure when it dies. See if it fluctuates...if it does...might have intank restrictions that need to be addressed. I have seen VP-44's die like this as well...
