BUDGET build race truck....
what do you guys think? is it going to be cheaper to go with a 2wheel drive truck and weight rudection and build it that way or pay more for 4 wheel drive? and the other question is do i go first generation and max that pump out or think it would be wise to try and find a 2nd gen and then go that route? i am looking to go low 13's and 12's for a cheap budget build!? got some good ideas already just curious of your guys opinions? thanks

2nd gen.. u get a better pump that can be modified for cheap and it probably wont be maxed out to get u into the 12s as for the 2wd vs 4wd imo 4wds easier so id rather go 2wd

I'd say go for the 2wd- less weight & rolling mass. 4wd eats up a fair amt of your horsepower, but if you do go 2wd you'll def have to have slicks or drag radials to keep from spinning halfway down the track. I'd also go 2nd gen (94-98) they're more areodynamic (better looking too) & I believe they're lighter than 1st gens

Get a p-pumped motor. Maybe you can luck out and find a first gen with one swapped in. 2wd will save you a ton of weight, and some slicks should even out the traction advantage the 4wds have.
