Braking Shudder

My '02 2500 SB QC tends to shudder when appling the brakes, not real bad, but annoying.
Thinking that the rotors my be warped, I had them turned but still have the problem.
Anyone have a fix for this braking problem?

No. Take rotors off and have the runout checked. if within spec, have them turned. The sooner you do this the less the runout will be.

Then, if they are too far out, replace them.

buy new rotors and clean the mating surfaces and install them. check runout that way. there is no since in trying to turn down used rotors, if they are warped then most likely they are heat checked anyway. when you turn rotors you are removing material that can absorb heat and totally defeating your purpose. you will be back to sqaure one with warped rotors soon. since your truck is a 02 it has outboard style witch makes it easier to change. start with a good brand of rotor (raybestos) some cheaper rotors are thinner in material witch maybe your problem now. just my .02

Let me start over.
I had this problem on the factory installed brakes. I changed the front rotors, calipers and pads to the 13", 03 brakes, Power Slot rotors and NAPA Brake Brackets and pads. Still had the same problem so I took the rotors to a machine shop and had the rotors turned to make sure that they were not warped. Machinist said that the rotors were straight and true.
the machinist said that the problem may be bad bearings or linkage problem.
There didn't appear to be any "Slop" or "play" in the steering or linkage with the truck on jack stands.
So everything suggested has been checked and done and I am looking for some guidance or help in finding the reason for the shudder.
Thanks to all for the input and suggestions.
Bob

If not the rotors then you might check the drag linke and track bar. that took care of alot of the issue I had. i still have warped rotos to replace but at least when i hit the breaks now it doesn't jerk the wheel out of my hands.
