Brakes Pull

I have a 97 Dodge 2500 4x4. When I brake it pulls to the left, real hard if you panick stop. Since it is pulling left it means the problem is the right front. I have replaced the front pads & calipers, rear brake shoes. I haven't replaced the brake hoses yet but wanted to hear what everyone says before buying them. The front end is tight. A friend of mine and my uncles trucks are doing the same thing and sure many others. What is the fix for the Dodge pull? Thanks

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Is this a relativelly new issue or has been around long time and finally got fed up with issue? Have you made suspension changes? Do you have wheels that changed the offset? Under circumstances, change the brake hoses in front. have you had alignment checked? Damage could be causing a suspension pull.

hi
my 98 has a spacer behind the right front wheel from factory to correct some brake pull issues i believe .
do you have the spacer ?
i think there were diff thickness ones , mine app 3/16 thick .

replace the front hoses and look at the new ones to see how tight the support bracket clampes them , i loosened mine a tad .

check shock condition also .

use E rated tires with 75-80 lbs psi .

Ditto. My brake pull rears its ugly head if I haven’t backed up a bunch lately, or adjusted the rears. I make it a habit to back in all parking spots and almost never have a pull.

Hoses would be my next course of action.

Keep the caliper bolts lubed!

I have 300k miles on my truck.
It took me 200k miles to figure out how to keep the front brakes alive.
The key is to lube the caliper bolts every 3000 to 5000 miles.
If you have been off road or driven in wet conditions you will need to re-lube the bolts right away because water and dirt gets sucked into them. The water from the road hits the hot caliper and causes it to cool drawing the water in.

The water and dirt cause the caliper bolts to stick to the rubber bushings between the bolts and caliper casting.

There are 2 good ways to diagnose brake problems.

1) Use a hand held infrared temp sensor to check the temp of each brake (including the rear). Compare the temps to each other. You will know right away which brakes are not working.

2) Lift up each wheel and give it a spin.
If the brakes are dragging you will know right away.
(The spin method doesn't always work if your brake hoses are bad.)

Here's a link to my YOU Tube Video Showing how much "spin" is good
