took blend door motor off to see if it is working-motor stays running all the time unless you find just the right spot with the temp select ****.What makes the motor stop when you get to full hot or full cold?also do I need to key the motor when I put it back on?

 

Im not totally sure about this but I think the motor stops when it senses resistance as in the door shutting either hot or cold. What I think might be wrong with yours is the link between the shaft on the motor and the door itself. there is a plastic link that splines to the motor and the door. You can remove this piece with pliers, screwdriver or pick after you remove the motor from the case. You can by this link at the dealer or search ebay because someones sells a metal one that doesnt break.

Thanks for the info,mine isnt broke but I am ordering one anyway before I have to take the blend door motor back off.

 

The Heater Treater doesn't replace the blend door it just connects the motor shaft to the blend door. Normally the motor stops turning when the blend door hits resistance from the door fully to one side or the other, unless the connector is broken in which case the motor shaft keeps spinning one direction or the other due to no resistance from the blend door. If you put your temperature **** in the middle between hot and cold the motor shaft will stop turning until repaired.

I found this info after spending $800 trying to fix my a/c blowing hot and cold. Turned out when ever I stopped, started, or turned, the blend door would swing back and forth. This is a good fix and inexpensive also. The toughest part of the repair is the back screw behind the motor.

Anyway, if it aint broke, don't fix it!

 

Driving home today I heard what sounded like a squirrel trying to get out of my glove box. AC and heat worked fine both hot and cold. I think the motor is running non stop down there. Do I need this heater treater to fix this or is it more ominous?

 

Sounds like debris got in the blower. Not sure, but I believe leaves and such can get in under the hood which is why it is important to keep those little foam rubber pads in the corners of the hood near the hinge area. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong but I also think debri can be dropped down the defroster vent area where the dash meets the windshield.

 

Debris can get in through the exterior intake vents and the defrost vents inside. Take the fan out and get in there with a hose hooked to a vacuum and pull out the junk. You will be amazed by what is in there, mine had two fist fulls of leaves and junk in it.

 

The motor is driven by a balanced bridge circuit. This causes the motor to turn the mechanism until the bridge balances. When you move the temp **** you are unbalancing the bridge and that calls on the motor to rebalance the bridge.
