hasnt anyone put bigger tires on a 4x4dually without wheel spacers yet?? if so what size did you use? 2001 year model.

 

I'm sure more people will chime in on this, but I just put wheel spacers on a friend's truck. 97 4x4 dually with 245/75's on it. There was no rub with the original bed on it, but after he got the flatbed put on and the welder, toolboxes, etc... the tires were rubbing. Don't know if that's any help, just thought I'd throw that out there...

 

You can fit 255/85r16's without spacers. That's a 33" tire. Probaly going with that myself. Do a search and you will find a thread that someone put on here with all the different manufactures that have that size.

 

That size tire is taller and narrower than 235's. I've run them - they have more traction in the slick, and more ground clearance, but they don't handle quite as well at highway speeds. Be aware that the wheel offset for the 3500 changed in 2000 or 2001 - the later MY's can run a slightly wider tire.

I haven't been able to find a selection of 255/85R16's in load range E since Firestone stopped making them a few years ago. (And those weren't very good tires....)

The Dunlop Rover RVXT, BF Goodrich M/T and T/A, and the Cooper ST are all available in that size, but only in load range D. I suppose you could put "D's" on a 3500 dually, but why would you want to?

The only tire in that size in load range E I've found is the Toyo M55 - an expensive tire.

Anyone found any others in "E"?

 

i have LT265/75/16 D and they dont rub but dont load up real heavy or they may, there are the same height tire just wider

Try some 3rd gen 17" wheels'n'tires - bolt pattern is same, rear offset is somewhat greater - looks better,too, imo

So I Could Use D's Im Just Trying To Get The Final Drive Down For Fuel Savings And Lower Rpm's Now That All Im Towing Is A Car Trailer And Boat. Any One Driving Anything Less Than A Dodge Is Driving A Grocery Getter Or Socker Mom Mini Van
