Best Tires
I want to replace my stock michelin 265 ltx m/s they are worthless.I got stuck in the yard after washing the truck.I can hardly get up my street in the snow with out locking the 4x4 in.I like the look of the BFG mudtrack or the Goodyear MT.I want an aggresive looking tire but I also drive 100 miles a day back and forth to work.So I need something that will do good on the highway as well as off road. How big of a tire can I go on my stock 8" wheels.I would like to lift the front end but don't know if I will.Any body have a good place to buy tires.?? ???
Re:Best Tires
I also live in a hilly area where it snows alot (this year) have a '600 long unpaved driveway. And a 90mile round trip to work (tire store)
I went with the BF Goodrich All Terrain KOs 285-75R16
No complaints at all, They have done everything I`ve asked of them including towing my 9K trailer.
Danny
Re:Best Tires
I have the BFG AT 315 75r16
They are a nice tire but they are not worth the price a normal person would pay for them. 182. bucks for one tire. I got my set for 100 bucks a piece. :

Re:Best Tires
Second the Dunlop Radial Rovers. I've had several sets on other vehicles, and they're a great tire. Wish I could've gotten them in 255-85/16 for my CTD dually. I went with the *re-designed* Firestone Wilderness AT's -- which were cheap and had a good tread. So far (5000 miles), no problems at all. Very good in the snow, and hold well on wet pavement. We'll see about the wear.

GP
Re:Best Tires
I would reccomend the Cooper 285/75/16 Discoverer AT
They are a good all around tire, not too noisy on the highway
They are fantasic in the snow, rain, mud.
They will also fit on stock wheels with no lift
Just my $.02
good luck

Rich

Re:Best Tires
Just installed tires that I have been waiting for. About 2 months overdue, but hopefully worth it.
Dayton Timberline MT 285/75-16
Basic Info Here
Like the tread design. Very similar to Mud T/A. Six tread plys, and three sidewall plys are attractive to those of us who drive onto construction jobsites
.
I've run many sets of Dayton tires, and had good results with all. I did have these siped for on road traction. My first time doing so, but I think it's a good call, considering the tread.
The jury is still out, as they've only been on for two days, but so far, so good.

Re:Best Tires
id recommend super swamper trxus MT's in 285/75/r16 (bout 33's). I got mine for a lil under 130 a piece from National Tire and Wheel. I drive 200 miles each way every weekend to and from school and have had good luck. They also work great in the mud and snow.........just thought id add my 2 cents
Re:Best Tires
I recommend the new BFG MT's. I've had quite a few different brand name offroad tires and IMHO these are the best if you put a lot of highway miles on the truck. This is my first set of the tread design so I can't give you a good number on the mileage you can get out of them. I will tell you though that pretty much any tire that is good offroad won't last you more than about 20K - 30K if you spend a lot of time on the pavement. I had a set of bias 40" GroundHawgs on my other truck and I can get over 50K on them because it spends the majority of it's time offroad.

Just my $.02
Re:Best Tires
actually this is waht I got on my truck right now , they're 10 plys and seem to be holding up well on the gravel roads
