Best region to buy a clean second gen
Found mine in Columbia, SC for $9500 and it was very clean and well maintained, although it had high miles. I haven't had any major problems with it.

Last week saw a 1996 club cab 3500 auto black with 51000 miles on it. Phone # 717 762-1107. They have a web site and i think it is www.buchananautopark.com. The truck is in Waynesboro, Pa. This might help you.
As Mike said, watch your DMV fees, if you're in Canada I'm sure there are import fees as well. Texas is generally the best, but repeat this word slowly, three times: CARFAX. I found one that a friend was looking for that turned out to have been lemoned, and had four seperate owners. It;s just a guide, but if you're traveling to get a truck, you need a good guide.

I second the vote for Texas.
I found my 2nd gen. (see sig) in the Truck Trader. I had been looking for weeks before I came across this one. I was searching for a manual transmission though, they seem to be harder to find. I paid $12,750 (US) and it had just turned 130K miles and was clean.
