Battery Problem?

While I was driving, the GEN light came on and my battery guage showed a low battery. What is this GEN light? I could not find it in my owners manual. TIA

It means your alternator isnt putting out high enough voltage. It should be 13.8 to 14.2 with a digital multi meter with the truck running.Check it at the back of the alternator. When my light came on ,it was the brushes in the alternator. Its about 140 or so to get it rebuilt or they are on ebay all the time.Autozone is close to that price and has a nationwide liftime warranty

one more thing if you want to pull it off you can check the brushes ,they are under the cover on the back. You might find a rebuild shop to sell you just the brushes.they are real easy to change
