Bad Paint

When I first bought my truck there was alot of dirt in the paint around the lower part of the door and a few spots along the upper door and fender so I made the dealer get it repainted before I bought it. They said they repainted everything but I know they only touched up a few of the really bad areas. After washing my truck today I noticed that almost everywhere a small bug smashed into my truck it damaged the clear coat, along the bed side is very bad. My truck has 26k on it and it looks worse than trucks I have had with 200k. Has anyone else had this problem with the patriot blue paint?

Re:Bad Paint

I've not had any trouble with my "silver" paint but if I did I would make them repaint the truck under the 3/36 bumper to bumper - and make them do it right. Log everything you ask them to do, who you talk to, date, time, etc. (for lemon law)in case it draws out pas the 3/36.

Re:Bad Paint

The bottom of my cousins 2002 was repainted by the dealer under warranty (after having the truck for only 3 weeks).

My 2001 paint is terrible as well....I am probably going to get bedliner sprayed along the entire bottom of the truck and not have to worry about it again.

Re:Bad Paint

I have a 97, but the truck looked great on the lot. A couple of minths later the paint was chipping around the dually flares and on the hood. My truck was white, now white with yellow poke-a-dots >

Most wanted do you drive on alot of gravel roads? I know alot of the ranchers around my parts with the dullies have like a half a fender becuase from drivin on rocks so much and havin rocks fly every were it acts like sand paper and cuts the fender in half almost. As for the bad paint when i used to work at a carwash here locally there was a 96 blue dodge ctd that had paint chips every were.

Re:Bad Paint

I have to say that I am also disappointed in the dark blue paint on my '02. The rear quarters behind the tires are the worst with large pieces flaking off. My '97 on the other hand looks excellent except for a few minor knocks from the larger tires spittin' up rocks...both of mine are out of Canada so there must be something to the actual paint issue. ???

What has the expierence been for those that have gone to the dealer? And what about end result? Are you happy with the re-paint? What about color match?
