axle ratio???
axle ratio???
heya guys after much searching i am unable to find the axle ration of my truck...
it wasnt on the metal ID plate by the radiator
not on the sticker under the hood
no sticker in glove box anywhere
not in the VIN code
no axle tag on the differential itself
there are a few sets of numbers on the back of the diff cover, but none showing a ratio.
am i missing anyplace?
thanks
(i dont want to go to dlr to get build sheet if i dont have too)

On my '96 its on the sticker on the front of the hood. Anyway, it should be either 3.54 or 4.10. Assuming you have stock size tires, get on the highway and go about 70-75 MPH, if the engine is spinning at about 2000 RPM, then you have 3.54. If the engine spins around 2500 RPM then you have 4.10.
If all else fails and you aren't sure about speedo accuracy or if the gears have been changed out jack up the rear wheels put her in neutral and put a piece of masking tape on the driveshaft after centering the valve stem on the wheel at 6 o'clock. Now turn the tire one revolution while counting the driveshaft turns. A little work but surefire. Kurt
