Right on, Im new to CTD and get 20mpg on my 12v automatic 4x4 with stock knife blade tires aired up to the moon.

A deacade ago I got 61MPG verfied by both odo and GPS, fuel up to the top of the neck in my 1985 VW golf diesel with nice thick 5,000 ppm diesel and the tires aired up to 50psi, rear drums adjusted to no drag-fresh wax. thin 30w tranny oil and the injection pump turned down to zero smoke. I think It had 40HP but almost 800 miles per tank! That car was free to drive!

Another trick with mechanical pumps is to keep your idle low, thus when off-throttle downhills the pump feeds that much less fuel into the engine

I had a 94 Ford F250 with a 7.3L IDI, and I loved that truck... I had 2 tanks on that thing and I ran WVO in one and diesel in the other... got 20,pg all day long, and would eat just about any fuel... Just had to filter out the french fry pieces !

Another thing to consider is where are you doing your driving in regard to altitude?

My truck pulled down the best mpg in Wyoming, I attributed it too thin air, less drag.....
