Anyone pulled out door handles?

Hey guys.
So Im sick of the hole truck being shinny and good lookin then having these few DULL black spots in the middle of it!

My new project is too pull and paint my tow mirrors, door/tail gate handles, brake light frames, and the top caps on the front and rear bumper all Gloss black.

Knowing how much a pain it is to pull off the inner door pannel for the mirrors, thought I ask on here if I can unscrew or something the outer door handles from the inside before I jump into it next weekend.

TIA, Ian.

try a few applications of mother's 'back to black' or a similar product first.

if that works, then just apply 'aerospace 303' protectant every once in a while. it is a leather/plastic/vinyl/rubber protectant which also has a 30 SPF rating on it . . .

i have removed both the door handles and tailgate handles. very easy to do. have not removed the mirrors though . . .

Mineral oil/Baby oil makes a nice shine on the plastic parts too. Just do put it on anything made from rubber, it eats away at rubber.

I have a few friends that have tried things like that. Now they hate touching the plastic and paint wont stick to it cause the oil has soaked in so much.
So Im gonna give the gloss paint a go.

The mirrors are pretty easy. Just take off the inner door handle then up pop the inner door panel and there are 3 nuts for the morrors.

Doj Dewd what about the handles though? Is there just a few screws and they fall out? Or what?

the handles can be a little tricky to get out, but not to bad. look in with a flashlight and feel with your hand. IIRC i think there are 2 fasteners to remove the handle from the door. you also need to remove the linkage rod by undoing the plastic clip.

it has been quite a while since i did this, but i was able to figure it out on my own - if i figured it out, most guys should be able too as well . . .

I had to remove the door panel for a repair. These pictures may help.

Ok thanks guys. The pic's gave me a little better look at what I remember.
Im sure Ill be able to figure it out.

Took the plastic bumper caps and trim off and cleaned and painted it today.
Still looks plastic which I expected it too. But its got a real nice shine to it that I think will look good once its all done.
Ill see if I cant get some pics to load on here when its all done.
Prob take me a few, only get an hour or so after work a few days a week for work on truck time. But itll get there.
Thanks guys!
