Just wanted to know if distilled water is the proper water to refill a battery that is low on fuid. If it isn't distilled what is the right water?

Yes adding distilled water is the right thing to do. It doesn't add minerials and salts to the acid, which builds up on the plates. You should add distilled water for to the rad as well. Good on you.
