Accessing Heater Fan.....???
Accessing Heater Fan.....???
I published this question a few minutes ago, and it vanished when I hit "submit." So, let's try again -
The heater/a.c. fan in my '02 2500 has developed a strong vibration at high speed, and seems to blow less air than it used to at any speed. I looked under the dash on the passenger side and see a huge housing with a bunch of screws. Looks like the firewall side is un-reachable. How do you remove this thing, or is there an easier way to check/clean that blower wheel ?? Thanks.

Hey Larry (awesome picts you sent me by the way....my daughter was studying glaciers at school so we actually "used" them as well as view them). Fan drops from the bottom. I usually use a smallish philips screw driver to get to the back one.
Thanks, Jay. I mis-understood.....I was trying to take the whole plenum out and couldn't get to a couple of the screws. Then got to looking at the fan motor. Three screws and it was out. There was a long, thin leaf in the wheel, enuf to throw it off a bit at high speed. Cleaned it, checked the evap. coil with a mirror (spotless) and put it back together. No more vibration and it blows lots of air. Saved myself $80.00.
Glad you enjoyed the pics. Let's see if I can attach one of the links here..........

Ah, OK, that's the funny one - click on each picture to open it full size..... let's see what reactions are, and maybe I could link more of 'em.
