Ac temp
I have a 01.5 dodge. I need a little info from oi.5 owners. When the temp is warm outside does you AC blow cold air or is just cool. On my truck it will just blow cool air. I checked the coolant in the AC system and it is good. I also checked the temp of the coolant line from the condensor the big line and it was cool but not cold. Is there suppose to be a heat shield around this line to keep the turbo from heating this line up. Because on cooler days the ac will blow cold air just fine. Any ideas Thanks Garry
According to the manual the temp should be around 35-40 degrees cooler than ambient air temp or approx. 40 degrees out of the vent.
At the firewall with the AC on the bottom silver line should be cold and the other line (black) should be slightly cooler.
If the silver line is warm your system probably needs a charge.

I went throough a sililar situation here in Maryland in the dead of Summer last year with my 01.5. It ended up that my radiator was clogged with debris and oil from the crankcase vent. I checked this using the "sheet of lined paper" test. When I took a single sheet of note paper and held it against the radiator while the engine was running it fell to the ground.
Cleaned and degreased everything and now have cold air even at idle in 90+ weather. Sheet of paper is pinned to the radiator.
Hope this helps.

Air conditioning is consider efficent when it is 35-40 degrees cooler than the ambient air temperature that it is removing the heat from.. I know that dodge has a big problem with idle a/c cooling.. In South Texas in the heat it does blow just cool and then you get on the highway with some airflow it cools back down.. Talk to a few guys and everybody says to go with the twin electric fan set up because the stock fan doesn't pull enough air across the radiator, intercooler and A/C condenser.. Make sense...

Are you sure? Even in 110-115F outside weather my vent output temperature is down to 60F within 1-2 minutes of startups (after sitting out all day) and down to 40-45F after 2-3 miles of driving. The rest of the cab is still warm....but at least it's blowing nice & cold!
