AC selector labeled wrong?

This is weird, on the selector **** for the zones and AC, only 2 positions have the snow flake, Max AC and face only, but when I turn the **** to feet and face, with no snow flake, I hear the AC clutch engage, I can hear a slight change in idle for a split second, and air gets much cooler. Not to mention my truck peed the driveway afterwards. Is is possible my snowflake peeled/rubbed off? Does anybody know what the heck I'm trying to say or had a similar experience?

Your A/C controls are labeled correctly. That is that way they are all labeled.

The A/C kicks in because it de-fogs the windshield a lot quicker.

A/C cycles in both AC positions, Defrost, Defrost/Feet, and Face/Feet.

Why it does it in Face/Feet is beyond me, but in Defrost the A/C dries the air to defog quicker and keep defogged longer.

I've seen several control heads bad causing this same situation. If you look at the position it is 180* off from the a/c posision and it actually pushes the contacts in for a/c. Fought one in the winter for poor heat for the same reason.

The entire HVAC setup on my truck kind of irritates me. Why if the "off" position not on the fan control but on the mode control? One has to cycle the mode, even if current mode if fine, to get the blower off. The AC is on in positions that make no sense. Every time I look at it I have the urge to add two switches, Fan on/off and AC on/off. I will definitely do that one day, just haven't gotten around to it.
The only setup more annoying is in my wife's Odyssey. There, you have to push the electronic control button to select the blower direction and cycle through them all to find the one you want. There is no "cold" or "hot", it will conveniently control the temperature at 70.5 or whatever degrees you choose. Guess what, I don't care if it is 70 or 71, I want it cooler or warmer.
Oh well, rant off. I guess nowdays the electronic designers have too much say in areas they better not be involved in.
At least mine is not like the Lexus I looked at recently: that thing has a touch screen control for AC, fan speed and everything else! I guess if a kid takes a pencil to the LCD screen one may as well replace the entire car.

If you mod your truck so that the compressor doesn't run in defrost mode, you will have to remember to run the compressor for a few minutes each month or else the seal around the shaft will dry out and you'll lose your freon.

I hardly ever run the system in defrost mode, so if this is the reason for the setup we have, it is not working either.
