AC compressor
Can anyone tell why someone might disconnect the AC compressor? I bought the truck used. I assume the belt should go over the AC compressor pully and it doesnt there is not belt on the AC pully. Also there are 2 wires that have been cut going to the AC compressor. Any advice?

The comppressor could be locked up and instead of replacing it they just bought the belt for a truck without a/c. The compressors for these trucks are not cheap. I just paid 235.00 for a reman. The two wires are to the a/c clutch. Take a small socket that will fit the nut on the front of the compressor and turn it. then you will know if the compressor is locked up.

Hook the wires back up to the compressor clutch, then jump the pressure switch plug on the accumulator/dryer with a paperclip. Jump the harness side, not the switch itself. First try turning the key to "ON" and turn the HVAC controls so the A/C would be on max. Now try and see if you can rotate the pulley on the compressor. If just the pulley itself turns with no resistance then you may have to start the truck and then check to see if the clutch engages and the compressor internals turn. Obviously you'd have to be cautions of moving parts such as belts, pulleys, and the fan.
