ABS and Brake light on
Had to do a painc stop for a dog the other day , in my 98 (rear antilock only) , stalled truck in 3rd gear never even had time to go for clutch. Whats the issue ?can it be reset or is some thing broke ?
If it's a non-permanent condition the light will reset after a few start cycles- nevertheless I would start by checking the following:
A: Level of brake fluid in the reservoir
B: Wiring from the reservoir to the main harness.
C: Proportioning valve (check if tripped- main cause misadjusted rear brakes).

Might also try a power reset. Disconnect both batteries over night then reconnect. Reprogram the APPS by key on no start and slowly push go pedal to the floor and back to idle three times. It resets the ECU on basic level. Always worth a try even if you have to reset things like radio presets, etc.
Check the brake light switch under the dash. And if the cruise wont engage or the brake lights remain on, its the switch. Its a cheap plastic switch too that can not be messed with. Meaning if you take it out then it must be replaced. There's some kinda trigger on it which sets it after installed. But you can certainly test the wiring for power out.
