"99" Current Draw From Fuse #12 I.O.D.
"99" Current Draw From Fuse #12 I.O.D.
I have a .45 amp current draw (everything off) from the #12 fuse station marked I.O.D. When I pull the fuse the current draw stops & so does the radio & inside lights. The radio has it's own fuse so I am confused.
What can be the problem?

Are you using a shunt to check the amperage draw? Some DVOM's won't let enough current pass to let the controller "fall asleep". Often you'll have to hook up a larger gauge wire along with the dvom and let it sit 10 min or so and see what happens. If it drops below .025 that should be ok.
That does seem like a lot.
Can't remember the exact spec but under .01A draw sticks in my mind. Manual says the IOD will run the batteries dead in 21 days if the engine isn't started and batteries charged.
Most of the time when folks run into high IOD the cause is the seat belt module. Not really sure if your '99 came with one though.
You need to be careful measuring IOD, there are some circuits that will be energized for up to half an hour just from opening the door.

Yea, I'm just gonna let it go and see what happens. I can test the batteries in the AM & see what it reads in volts. The old Optimas would drop to 12.18 over night. Sears replaced them free.
Well, infidel is right again. Over diagnosis on my part. After replacing the batteries and letting them sit overnight they are still 12.65 volts.
Life is good when infidel is around.

My truck also pulls .45amps though IOD, I know I have the bad seat belt controller if I unplugg it under the seat batteries stay up, if I leave it plugged most of the time no start in the morning.

Interesting....I ran into the same issue with the IOD fuse last fall. You might recall because you made several posts in that thread Geico. I chased around the truck with a meter for at least a week or two and didnt really resolve anything. Hasnt caused me any trouble since. And yes,m it was drawing in the neighbourhood of 400 mA..
