98 Speedo Correction

Alright guys...I've searched on here, but not really found what I'm looking for!

How do I reprogram the speedo on my 98 12v?? Can I have the dealer do it, or do I have to use an aftermarket device (Superlift Truspeed, Jet AccuSpeed, etc)???

Any chance my buddy's Smarty will do it??
Thanks Guys,
Chris

The smarty only works on one vehicle at a time. IIRC, you have to replace a plastic gear in the tranny.

I thought that was the case with the Smarty...but we haven't tested that aspect of it yet

I hope it's not a gear drive...I never could get the one in the 95 right I guess I should go look, huh

Maybe I can get it figure out before my new wheels and tires get here
Thanks BB,
Chris

'98 trucks take the speed reading from the rear axle ABS sensor and tone ring. Depending on the size of the tire the dealer should be able to do it. The Superlift True Speed allows you to enter settings for two different size tires. If you go this way you can calibrate it using a hand held GPS and be sure it's right.

Sweet... I just saw this again. I didn't realize you guys had replied!!

I think I'll have the dealer try it...if they can't get it, I'll put a tru-speed on it! Then I can go back and forth between stock and my 19.5's when drag racing

Thanks Again Guys,
Chris
