I have started project hairbrain ( that is what my other half is calling it). Sunday towed home a totaled 01 with a 4 door cab ( suicide doors). In a few months, once time allows I'm going to transplant it onto my 97. I know the question about whether this works has beeen asked several times, we all think it wll but I don't believe it has been done, so I' going to be the guinea pg. I'll let you know the results once it's done.
