Gauge Questions for my 97 CTD

Getting ready to order gauges for the truck in my signature. It will be getting a TST #8 power kit shortly after. I want a complete kit with all needed fittings and connections.

I'm looking at three gauge packages, I want Boost, Pyro and Trans Temp. Given a mild performance upgrade like the TST #8 plate, what range of Boost Gauge should I get? 30, 40 or 60lbs?

I like the idea of a windshield mount but no one seems to make one for a 97 Dodge and I also wonder about installation problems. Unless someone can offer other advice it looks like a full A-Pillar is probably the only way to go. How much worse is the already large blind spot going to get?

It appears ISSPro gauges are about the cheapest quality solution, originally I was looking at Diesel Manor but it appears their prices have recently increased from I thought $279 to $327. I'm also looking at Vulcan Performance but they don't show a three gauge ISSPro Boost, Pyro, Tranny for my truck.

Anyone have a discount coupon or method to save a bit more at these or another shop?

All advice appreciated.

I had a 0-30 PSI in my 98 and didn't like it because I would burry the needle from time to time. I went with a 60 PSI, but I have not seen anything above 35. The 40 PSI should work, but it also depends what you might want to do with the truck in the future.

I am not familiar with the windshield mounted pods, but I actually like the A-pillar mounts. In my previous truck I had three gauges (only two gauges in the current truck) and I don't find them to be in the way and they don't seem to make too much of a difference as far as a blind spot. I think you'll get used to them fairly quickly and they shouldn't hinder normal driving at all. I know there are some other options out there as far as gauge pods, if you don't like the A-pillar option just do some searching and you'll find some other options. I think most people do go with the A-pillar for the simplicity of mounting.

I have not looked at prices for awhile, but I've always used Autometer gauges and the best price I have always found was through Summit Racing. My only suggestion if you are trying to save money is just to watch eBay, you might find what you are looking for there.

My turbo also only makes up to 35PSI. But I like the sweep and the readability of the 60 PSI Issrpo best.

I just purchase a new tranny temp from Geno's because of pricing. Diesel Manor used to have pretty good prices, but they have gone up. So Geno's was the best price for what you get.

When I first got my truck, I was running the three gauges on the pillar. The blind spot you refer to really didn't bother me. Then I switched to a digital gauge from Quadzilla, so the stock pillar went back in. Well, I have since decided to go back to analog gauges. So in go some Isspro's. Still, no real issue with a blind spot. Yeah, there is a bit of a blind spot, but I guess I've learned how to just move around a bit to avoid it. (Huh, you should try driving a 379 Pete. Talk about some blind spots) Any ways, I feel the benefits (which are, it just takes a fraction of a sec to view the gauges) of the gauges on the pillar; out wiegh the cons (being, having to look down away from the road to view the gauges). To each their own, though. Huh?

I put a triple gauge pod on the dash of my old 24V. I really liked it, but it was kind of a pain to install. I swore if I ever had to do it again, I'd go with an A-pillar mount. Well, I now have a 12V and an A-pillar mount is waiting to be installed.

I ended up ordering an A-Pillar kit from Vulcan Performance that has ISSPro EV gauges (Pyro, 0-40psi Boost and Trans Temp). Hopefully I'll like the A-Pillar mount as it will be the easiest install.

I'm still trying to decide where to install the Trans temp sensor, I know most here like it in the hot line from the transmission. I contacted all three of the respected transmission builders (ATS, Sun Coast and Goerend) and they all said to put it in the pan.

Now I'm also trying to decide between a #8 or #10 fuel plate as well.
