97 check engine light

Tried searching but the site keeps giving me an error when searching for " check engine light"

Just picked up a 1997 club cab, 4 x 4 , 5 speed with 222.600 on the clock. Truck is completely stock...... Well except I pinned the AFC completely forward tonight. So let the mods begin..... LOL

Check engine light was on when I test drove it. And is still on after I drove home 100 miles. I had a 94 regular cab for 5 years and am not familiar with the "check engine" light issue. What on the 97 will cause the check engine light to stay on?

Thanks......

Think you have a Cali spec. EGR truck, that's where I would start, go to AutoZone and have them tell you the codes.

Codes and instructions here> http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/trouble..._DTC_codes.htm

Ignore that it says doesn't work on '97. The key trick works on all except '98 and '99 12 and 24 valves.

This is the code I have.....

23 - Intake manifold air temp sensor voltage too high or too low.

What is the fix for this code?

You could try and clean yours, but they are only 17-20 bucks for a new one at Rock Auto..........

I would also highly recommend the 30 dollar Factory Service Manual at Genos Garage.
