94 pcm same as 98?

I have a 56040139 AB pcm.......in my 98 3500 12 valve 4x4 stick.

I found a 56040139 AB pcm, that is said to be from a 94 3500...

Are all the 94 to 98 pcm's the same if they are optioned the same? Like a 94 3500 (that should be a stick ) be the same pcm as a 98 3500 with a stick.

I kinda figured a 98 might be different, cruise control? maybe other stuff, but Im not familiar with 94-97.....I only kn ow the dash looks different but that doesnt mean it works different.

Anybody?

Generally speaking, with Dodge, if the part number is the same, the PCM is the same. If the calibration changes, the PCM gets issued a new part number. Example, with the same year truck, a manual transmission truck will have a different calibration than an auto transmission truck, therefore will have a different PCM part number.

I wouldn't have expected a 94 and 98 to share a PCM, but if the part numbers are the same, then according to all my experience with Dodge, they will interchange.

To be double sure, you might want to consult a dealer partsman with the serial number for each truck and verify that he comes up with the same number for both trucks.

i think your right, and the one I found that is said to be from a 94, is probably from a 98 and they dont really know. A search revealed that pcm number only linked to 98's.

edit: talked to the seller and revealed that his 4 looks like an 8 sometimes and he bought it for a friends truck (trying to fix it) It was a cps problem, so the pcm wasnt needed.....and the truck is a 98....so I boiught it.
