"53" block question
if you all could help me out with this...i would really appericate it.
so i am looking at this truck.....production "year" says it should have a "53" in it...but when i look at the inside door sticker...you know the one that has the GVWR, tire size, and psi, vin, and that bar code....on that sticker it states that the vehicle was MADE IN MEXICO.....
remember i am new to this...but i am wondering...could this vehicle be made in mexico and have the brazilan block "53" or if it was made in mexico does that mean THE WHOLE THING was made there...block included????? because correct me if i am wrong but someone here pointed out to me that the "mexico" made blocks, the ones that have the smaller of the two stamped numbers and more of a series of numbers than the "53" are the BETTER of the blocks....
i am looking at pics here and havent inspected the vehicle in person yet...so that is why i am asking here...when i do see the truck...i will do the flat back check!!!!! lol

Not every component on a truck manufactured at Saltillo would be of Mexican origin. Engines, transmissions, transfer cases, axles, etc all likely came from elsewhere. Crawling under the truck and examining the engine is the only way to positively identify it.

Chapter President
It will not matter where the truck was manufactured in relation to the engine. Cummins assembles its engines in the US and then ships them to DC. DC will specify to Cummins where to them ship the completed engine assemblies. Cummins is a wholly separate manufacturing entity that only ships completed engines to DC. DC has nothing to do with manufacturing of the raw materials, import and export of materials or components or where the engines are assembled.
Unfortunately, the only way to verify the 53 block, is to visually observe the casting on the block itself. This casting # is not tied to the VIN # or any other means of vehicle ID that I'm aware of.
