Well i am once agian in need of new gummies. I have been running BFG's load range E for last 3 years. I have been thinking of going back down to 265's -which is what came with truck but even though they are only an inch shorter in height they seem so small.

Is there any other brands other than BFG that come in E's in 285's that i may not be aware of?

I really need to stay with E's.

Nitto, Toyo

I've run the Nitto Terra Grappler on my old '97, though they were 285/70-17 E's because I put on 3rd Gen wheels in order to get the correct backspacing with the 8" wide wheel. The 2nd Gen 16" x 8" factory alloy wheels don't clear on the '94 - '99 years. I thought the Nitto's wore kind of fast. Truck had a service body on it and was heavy. My friend has a set of 295/75-16 Nitto Terra Grappler's on his Ford, and he feels they wear fast too.

When it comes time to put new tires on my '02, I plan on installing the Hankook 285/75-16 Load Range E tires.

 

I had a set of Bridgestone Deuler Revo II's, which were E-rated, and wore great. They stunk in wet grass and mud, though. I run 285-75-16.

 

im running fierce attitude m/t's 285/75r16 E and love em. hardly and road noise, excellent traction and good wear. good prices too

 

I recently went back to the stock size and they look really small compared to the 285's I had on it for winter.

I'm getting used to it now though.

I'm running Dean MT's for winter, but I think they are D's. Still at 5700# a tire I'm covered for any load I may haul.

 

i've been looking into the michelin ltx a/t2. they're nice looking tires. very quiet on the road & have good traction off road.

I am at 24,000 miles on, mine and they are almost worn out. No heavy loads just driving to work and back on hwy. Rotated every 5 to 6,000 and air psi at 70psi and checked every 2 weeks. Will be my last set of those.

 

wow!!!...i had heard such good things about them. wonder why they wore out so quick. i'm running the stock michelin ltx m/s on mine right now. they seem to be lasting very well.

 

Michelins have been on my truck for the last 230,000 miles. I'm on my 3rd set of them. Every time I read about some guy who had a blowout on a cheaper tire, I thank myself for buying the Michelins. I mean, these trucks are heavy! I drive all day long at 70 mph sometimes, loaded, or loaded and towing a trailer--I need a good set of tires.

 

Do they wear out in the center? My tire pressure chart for my '01 indicates a lot less pressure than that when unladen.

 

I bought my truck with these on it. I don't know how many miles were on them but I have put 17k on the truck so far and they look good... running same max air at 70 psi cold and no towing. I drive a lot of miles and so far I am pleased with how they are wearing for being the load rating they are. If you had that kind of luck with them I may re-think another set though-

You won't go wrong with Michelins. I got over 90,000 miles on my last two sets of Michelin LTX M/S. I don't know if the LTX A/T is the same tire, but the price is about the same. I got mine at Costco.

I also went to my local farm supply store and got some heavy-duty steel, bolt-in valve stems. No more flats from cheap valve stems coming apart.

 

They are worn even all the way across. Not sure what the deal is. BFG A/T's lasted 25k before these went on. Before that I was running BFG Mud T/A's that were load range D and they lasted 43k. Thinking of Toyo M55's next.
