A 2000 HO?
A 2000 HO?
Hey guys I have a friend that has a 2000 3500 Dodge CTD and they claim it is the HO. I didnt think they started making them until 2001. This truck is a six speed but wasnt that an option on the SO? Is there such a thing as a 2000.5 with a HO? Jus curious. I also tried to buy his Edge EZ from hime for $100 because thats what he paid for it but he wouldnt budge, I guess he's selling it with the truck. Also would an Edge EZ thats on a 2000 or 20001 HO fit my 98.5?
Re:A 2000 HO?
He is definitly smokin something....
First year for the HO was 2001 - was only available with the NV5600 - 6 speed
http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/Facts/01ISBspecs.html
The 6 speed was first introducted in 1999 but only a few were built before model year 2001. I dont think you could get a SO with a 6 speed. Ive never heard that either.

If the EZ is for a 2000 it should work on your truck, but not if its for a 2001...be sure before you fork out the cash.

Also do they offer the 6spd HO anymore? I was trying to price out a new truck and couldnt find the HO or the 6spd tranny.

Has he owned it since new??? The transmission could have been swapped in after the 5 speed crapped out.
You cant find a 2003/2004 HO?? Huh, they are all over the place. The new HO's come with either a 6 speed or the new 48re auto.
Check out Jacks new ride....looks like an 04 HO with 6 speed to me:

I dunno.....someone is confused here...

Re:A 2000 HO?
Hey no need to get smart now!!! I was just wondering because I didnt see it on their website. I thought they still offered it. I am the one thats confused and thats why I am asking you older and wiser fellows. Do they even make the SO anymore? I havent had the time to see any new trucks lately. Sorry about the confusion....thanks for all the help!

Im not being smart.....and for the record I wasnt referring to you...
I am talking about the 2004's here:
The SO's are offered with either the auto (48re) or manual (6 speed)
The HO's are the same, the 48re auto or the 6 speed. To my knowledge, the 5 speed is no longer available.
2003's SO had the 6 speed and either the 47re or 48re auto
HO had the 6 speed and the 48re auto (i think)
I hope that helps...

Re:A 2000 HO?
'99's were available with 6-speeds. Almost bought one. They have the smaller 5-speed input shaft, which is no longer being made.
My '98.5 was a 5-speed, but it's a 6-speed now. (Guess we could have bought the '99 6-speed in the first place? hmmm, go figure)
'98.5-'00 EZ/COMP will work, '01 changed MAP sensor voltage, '02 changed the MAP plug. The '01 will work on an '02 with a $10 adaptor, and vice versa.

Rare is the word of the day. BTW,, if you do find a '99-'00 6-speed and break the input shaft, you'll have to opt for a new transmission. You can't rebuild the small input shaft trannies anymore, unless you find one laying around somewhere, as the parts are no longer being made (told to me by a reputable tranny distributer).
If you have a small shaft 6-speed.... Welcome to the club.

Merrick are you saying that the older trans cannot be upgraded to the larger shaft? My understanding was that the bearings were the same. I'll be some aftermarket source makes the shaft. Glad I obtained the 1 3/8 input trans.
