1998 Horn Switch
Has anyone been able to get the horn switch for the 98's. I just got off the phone with the dealership and they said that dodge did a change and now you have to buy the airbag assembly and a new clock spring. That's about $1000.00. Originally you could get just the switch/cover assembly which comes off fairly easily.

Horn Switch/Trim Cover
The dealerships that I have called have all said the same thing. First they give me the 97 part over the phone and then I remind them that it is a 98. They look again and always find the same thing. Dodge did a modification and got rid of its previous horn switch/trim covers. I was unable to get an explanation as to the reason for the change but the change means that you have to change the airbag as an assembly and buy a new clock spring as it changed as well. This was not a keep selling the old units until stock was exhausted. This was a mandatory change from the factory at the dealerships. When I first got my truck in 97 I had to wait a little longer. It was in the train yard in St Louis to be loaded on a train for the Miami dealership where I purchased it and then be shipped to the country of Panama from there. At the last minute there was a recall on the steering columns so they changed all of the ones in the ship yard in St. Louis before releasing them. I wonder if this was part of that change or the change they are talking about came sometime later.
