1998 12V 4x4 - Good buy?
1998 12V 4x4 - Good buy?
New here, looking for some feedback. I have been looking for a truck for some time and came across one I am seriously considering buying.
1998 12V 2500 Club Cab long bed 4x4 5spd with 111000 miles on it. Has a shell, new American Racing wheels and BFG KO tires. Cosmetically it is very good with the exception of a small dent on the right side of the bed toward the taillight. Fifth gear has been upgraded. One ton axles with airbags in the rear.
Interior is in very nice condition, no rips/tears or cracks in the dash.
Engine/trans is totally stock with the exception of the above mentioned 5th gear. No visible leaks. Drives, shifts fine. Tracks straight.
Poblems: When fuel gets to half a tank, the gauge drops to empty.
Due to larger tires/wheels, speedometer is not calibrated correctly.
My plan is to primarily use the truck to tow a toy hauler trailer (not yet purchased) about 23 - 28 foot length. Haul motorcycles/ATVs in the bed of the truck (when not towing the trailer) for day rides at the track or desert.
Seller is looking for $13,500.
Anything I should look out for? Good deal or not? Any feedback is appreciated
Thank you

Id say thats a good truck
Ask about the KDP, and the front end on these trucks can be a PITA at times, but nothing impossible to take care of, I would buy it if i had that sorta money, they are nice trucks! Take it for a test drive and if its good, u like it, buy it, u wont regret it..
Rick
What is "KDP?" Sorry, new here, not up to speed on all the accornyms yet.
Seems like a pretty good deal. I assume the fuel gauge issue can be fixed easily. A dealer should be able recalibrate for the different size tires, I may call to get an estimate as to how much that would cost.

Go for it. Looks like a nice truck
KDP= killer dowel pin. It's an alignment pin located inside the timing gear cover. It has a possibility of vibrating out and going through the timing gears, witch can cost over $1,000 to fix. TST makes a kit for around$40 to fix it and it only takes a couple hours to do
